Additional Equipment

Hi all,

Been a while since my last post, been a very busy week so hope to be back a little bit more often.

Today i'm looking at the use of equipment and try to conclude its worth. There are many different types of equipment which are available for all of the tiers in the game. However, in my opinion it really is not worth trying to fit equipment to low tier tanks with perhaps the exception of scouts that you intend to keep.

I say this mainly because the vast majority of the equipment costs a lot of money 500,000 credits for the vertical stabilizer etc etc for example so it really isn't worth paying this amount money for equipment that you are going to fit to say a tier 4 to keep for 40 battles.

A camouflage net on the other hand can be a worthwhile investment since it only cost 100,000 credits in the first place and can be removed for free thus can be used all the way up the tech tree and swapped between tanks easily.

Once you start to hit tier 7/8 on the other hand i think it is worth starting to consider the worth of fitting other equipment since you will be keeping the tank for quite a while to grind through it to the higher tiers. So what are the best options for equipment:

- Gun rammer (small, medium, large) Out of all the equipment I think that this is perhaps my favorite the 10% RoF increase can allow you to get that extra shot in and find cover again before your enemy gets a chance.

- Enhanced gun laying drive is another one I find to be useful particularly for those long shots when you don't have long to aim.

On the other hand I find ones such as enhanced suspension to be rather redundant as they cost alot of money and are only useful when you can't be bothered to buy the tracks, in my opinion its just easier to buy em.

Overall, in the later tiers i think that equipment can be very useful but not essential to do well in a game.

Best Consumables?

When I first joined the game I didn't really understand the concept of consumables and with the little amount of money I had I didn't see the point.

However, many thousands of battles later they are a crucial part of my load out and have saved my life more times that I can think. So what is the idea load out.

Personally I tend not to use gold for consumables but stick with their credit based counterparts since i find them to be pretty efficient anyway and i tend to get through 1 or two in a battle and i'm not rich enough to afford that.

All nations get access to the improved oil in one form or another which allows them to increase the output power of their engines which can be helpful but in my opinion doesn't create much of a noticeable bonus.

The Russians also get the option for the removal of the speed governor which gives a bigger boost to engine power but causes slow damage to the engine which can cause it to be knocked out and will also require it to be repaired at the end of the battle.

Yet despite the advantages that both of these can offer in speed I still personally find that the best 3 perks are the repair kit, first aid kit and fire extinguisher. I find nothing more annoying than my gunner getting killed early on and having to spend the rest of the battle with massively reduced accuracy or my ammo rack getting hit resulting in massively slower reload speed.

GW Panther... Turret Turning God?

Before I start i'm gona try todays post in none italics as people have suggested it maybe easier to read so i'll see how it goes.

I'm gona be looking at the GW Panther today, mainly because its a tank i've been playing quite a lot recently and there seems to be scarcely little information and reviews about it out there in the web.

Obviously one of the main points of note of this tank as i'm sure you guessed is its turret which gives the tank a massive arc of fire. The turret does not have 360 degree rotation but it does mean that unless the enemy is close you rarely have to turn your tank this you don't have to wait for the aiming reticle to come back in from full desperation which can considerable increase your accuracy and combat rate of fire.

The upgraded gun deals 1,250 damage so it is one of the weakest SPG's at this tier compared to its russian counter part which can deal 1,850 on average with both the SU-14 and S-51. It does however, do more damage then the newly introduced french artillery at the equivalent tier.

The GW offers good speed up to 48 kph which allows for rapid deployment and it has a reasonable turn ability which helps to give you a chance at defense against those pesky light tanks attempting to run circles around you.

Credit Making ability

In my opinion on average it does not quite sit up there with the Hummel for its ability to make credits since you can get put in with tier 10's quite regularly and these can be quite hard to do any real damage to thus hindering your income.

As for matchmaking as i said above it does often get put in with the tier 10's which can be quite a tough nut to crack. However, when you get those side shots and penetrations on tier 9's its very enjoyable to see over 1,000 health come off an E-75.

Conclusion

Overall, a very nice tank that is enjoyable to play and effective against the enemy. If you want to use an SPG as a means of making credits then I would advise that you stick with the Hummel, but a very nice tank to lead onto the GW Tiger.

Please do let me know if you prefer normal text compared with the italics of previous posts

Artificial Sloping.. Who, What, When, Where, Why?

Hello,

Today will just be a short post to explain a very simple point that quite a few people seem to miss or do not understand or realize that it can be done.

Artificial sloping is the act of stopping your tank so that your armor is angled towards the enemy to create an artificial slope which increases the thickness of your armor and increases the change of a shot bouncing off your armor. (see chart below for accurate info)

However, you do have to be careful to not over do the angle at which your turn away from your enemy or you risk exposing your weak side armor.

Furthermore, not all tanks should be sloped I see time and time again people in is-3's and 7's trying to angle there armor away from me, yet due to the fact there armor already has sideways sloping all they are managing to achieve is straighten there armor out and increasing the chance of a penetrating hit. So with these tanks aim your armor straight at the enemy.

Hopefully this went someway to clearing up the confusion that seems to surround this subject and if you have any questions please post in the comments and i'll do me best to answer.

IS-6 ... The Russian Löwe?

Hello and welcome to my blog, today we'll be looking at the Russian IS-6 Tier 8 premium. Whilst I haven't got the tank on the main server I did spend some time trying it out on the test server.

Also I was planning/ thinking about doing a post about maps/ tactics and I still intend to but it is taking longer than expected to prepare various photos and information.

The IS-6 has 100 mm of frontal armor with 150 mm for the turret, whilst this may initially seem thin it should be noted that the front hull is heavily sloped which does go some way to increasing the armor. However, when coming up against the higher tiers you will still find the armor lacking.

On a slightly separate but similar note I often refer to a very helped and somewhat interesting graph published by panzer world, so all credit goes to them  ( http://www.panzerworld.net )

The gun is a 122 mm cannon which has a good alpha damage with an average 390. However, the gun is lacking when it comes to penetration and while will be able to take on tier 7's it start to struggle more when it comes up against the higher tier 8's & 9's. Furthermore, the lack of accuracy makes it harder to aim for the weak spots on those tanks thats have got thick frontal armor.

Credit Income

The tank does require an initial investment of 11,800 gold so effectively the same as the löwe. Obviously it is a premium and capable of racking up a good amount of kills and damage thus it will make a good income thats can easily rack up hundreds of thousands an hour.

Tactics

Unfortunately this chapter will be a little shorter than normal as i've not spend nearly as long playing this tank as I have with other:

- I found it to be a close quarter tank due to the lack of accuracy and penetration

- Slope the armor much as the same with most tanks and you will stand a real chance of bouncing shots.

-  Your turret is also quite strong so it is worth when possible going into a hull down position.

Conclusion

Whilst it is a very good tank I personally think it is still lacking upon the Löwe and I will not be buying it. On the other hand, it is a very good money maker and if you are not a fan of the löwe and prefer a more up front style of play then you may well enjoy the tank. :)

Tier 4 Lights.. A Painful Grind?

Before i get started I just wanted to say thanks for all the support that I have had so far and I'm thrilled so many of you are enjoying it :)

Today I'm going to be looking at the A-20 & Pz38na both of which are tier 4 scout tanks for Russia and Germany. When I first joined the game I started down the road of the A-20 and ultimately gave up due to the excessively long grind and my lack of experience, so does it really need to be so bad?

The A-20 has 20 mm of hull armor and 25 mm of turret whilst the hull is heavily sloped it is to this to realistically stop anything so don't rely on your armor, the same is true for the pz38na you just simpily won't bounce. However, they both have speed speed and more speed, with a top speed of 72 kph for the A-20 and 63 kph for the 38. As for guns i think it comes down to personal preference for the A-20 whilst the tier v automatic 37 mm gun may initially seem best it does have a large draw back in shockingly poor penetration which when you get flung into high tier games is often not good so i prefer either the 45 mm or 76 mm guns. The Pz38na is a simple choice the 50 mm KwK 39 every time.

Match Maker

I find that you can pretty easily split the tier 4 scout tanks into 2 MM categories and two different tactics and styles of play:

1) Equal tier, it doesn't always happen that often and can be infuriating waiting for one of these games but it will occur where your are the top tank or certainly towards the top.

If this is the case you are not a scout you should be using your speed to play peek-a-boo and racking up damage. Furthermore, you can use your speed to rapidly change position and support the weak areas on your front and stop a flank collapse.

2) High Tier, this it seems is the most common placement for tier 4 light tanks and is often the most infuriating and unfortunately short, you are a scout tank and there is little you can do to get away from that but you need to focus on staying alive for as long as possible to light up as many enemies as possible for your team:

- Don't scout at the start of the game it really doesn't achieve much no one is ready for combat but still positioning and it doesn't reveal much about the position of the enemy s your know they are in the spawn area instead take your time hang back a bit first.

- Take the flank, don't just charge head on, its easy to shoot a scout driving straight towards you but one coming in from the side makes it much harder to hit. (although by no means impossible)

- Keep moving, simple just don't stop its hard to hit a 70 kph small tank but one that stops and pokes his nose out of a building to look is a easy kill.

Conclusion

I have rambled on for slightly longer than intended so i'll keep this short, the tier 4 scout grind can and often will be hard but it can also be great fun ducking and diving between the enemy tanks lighting them up and seeing your arty slam a shell home.

Hopefully this will be of some help particularly to newer players

p.s. thinking about doing something about maps next time or tactics for a specific map but not 100% sure yet.

Löwe - Tier 8 German Premium Tank Review

Hello Guys & Gals,

For my first real post I decided to do a review of the Löwe heavy tank since it is a very common sight on the battlefield and resides in the garage of many.

The Löwe is equipped with a 10.5 cm gun with has an average of 320 damage and a penetration ability of 234 mm. Whilst on first impressions the gun seems to lack any real damage ability it more than makes up for this with is amazing accuracy.

The gun is designed to be used from distance to pick off and support the tanks at the front. It is strongly advised that you are not the front tank leading the charge at close range. However, it should be noted that when you are the top tier or when your allies are in need do not just sit at the back and let them die/ be overrun.

Armor on the tank is somewhat scarce and it only has 120 mm of frontal hull armor whilst this may give you  chance to bounce tier 7 and below soon as you encounter an tier 8 + you armor isn't gona be up to much. It is worth trying to artificially angle your armor as this may result in the odd bounce. The turret on the other hand whilst also only having 120 mm of armor is very curved so has a good chance to deflect so going hull down on any map is always good. :)

Tactics

Often Löwe drivers are automatically classified as noobs just due to the tanks reputation, it is in reality a very good tank but you just need the experience to use it to a certain extent this can only be gained by a large amount of battles but heres a few tips to get you started:

1) Have experience with the Tiger 1 this should go someway to setting you up to a tank much like the Löwe.

2) It is not a front line tank so don't use it as one.

3) The first crew research should be repairs as you'll find a lot of components easily get damaged.

4) Be ready on those fire extinguishers due to the frontally placed engine.

5) try playing peek-a-boo whilst the tank has a slow and sluggish top speed to does well with popping out and darting back in.

Income

The Löwe is a very good money earner im my current best match clocked in at 149,000 credits - ammo costs. Whilst im sure people have done and often do better than me it goes to prove that it can be a very good money earner and with some good game you can soon bring in hundreds of thousands of credits.

Overall, I think the Löwe is an excellent tank which is both fun to play when mastered and an excellent money earner that often does well and in my opinion i would class it as a definite BUY.

I hope you have enjoyed my first post and maybe gained something from it, i intend to be making more posts soon so stay tuned and please feel free to leave comments and and feels you have about the blog.
